GABRIELE MOGNI: FOUNDER OF THE QUANTUM SERVER PROJECT

Hello and welcome to Quantum Server. I am a professional postdoctoral researcher in computational physics and computational material science applications. I pursued my schooling in Brussels, Belgium and then moved to the UK for my University studies (first Cambridge for my undergraduate degree and then Oxford for my Ph.D). My field of specialization is the physics of laser-induced shock-compression of crystalline solids and the modeling of the mechanical response properties of such solids under extreme pressure and temperature conditions (such as encountered at the center of planets) with ab-initio atomistic computational techniques such as classical Molecular Dynamics and Density Functional Theory. I know how to use some of the most important ab-initio computational material science codes such as LAMMPS, VASP, ABINIT, CASTEP and Quantum Espresso, as well as to write data analysis scripts in Python together with its associated libraries NumPy, SciPy and Matplotlib. I have also written computational physics codes in Fortran in the past, and I'm now in the process of learning how to program in C. Finally I am also familiar with the PHON code for calculating phonon dispersion curves in crystals and related thermodynamical properties.

If you would like to get in touch with me personally to discuss potential projects or collaborations, please do not hesitate to contact me at my email address: gabriele.mogni@qscomputing.com

ANDREA MOGNI: CO-ADMINISTRATOR

Andrea comes from an economics and law background rather than science. He is nevertheless very much interested to assist researchers at all stages of their careers to apply to EU funding schemes dedicated to scientific research, thanks to his long (30+ years) experience of working for the European Commission in Brussels. Such funding schemes include in particular the ERC and Marie Curie programs, both of which are administered under the EU's Horizon 2020 research and development agenda. If you would like to get in touch with Andrea directly to obtain more information about the possibility to apply to such EU science funding programs then please send him an email to the address: mognian@hotmail.fr
